- The commander of the Mi-8 crew, Boris Goroshko, was killed on April 5, 2022, while carrying out a combat mission to break through to the territory of "Azovstal" in Mariupol. They were supposed to deliver weapons there and evacuate the wounded from there. On board the Mi-8 along with Boris were two more crew members and a GUR officer. They managed to deliver the weapons and medicines, but could not evacuate the wounded. The pilot was 37 years old. Boris was born in Spassk-Dalny (Russia). His father was a pilot. After a year, the family moved to Germany, and after another 5 years - to Novyi Kalyniv in the Lviv region. There Boris studied at school. Then he graduated from the Ivan Kozhedub Kharkiv National Air Force University. He was constantly developing, enjoyed skiing, swimming, running, yoga, chess, videography, hiking, books, and cars. He valued honesty in people the most. He dreamed of a big family and wanted to finish building the house. Since 2006, Boris has served in the 301st anti-aircraft missile regiment. Since 2009, he has held the position of chief of staff - deputy commander of the helicopter squadron in the 12th separate army aviation brigade. He was a participant in the ATO / JFO. He also took part in UN peacekeeping missions. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the pilot continued to serve as part of his brigade and carried out complex tasks. In particular, he took part in the GUR special operation to break through to "Azovstal", during which he was killed. On March 29, 2022, Boris was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, III degree. "Good, loving, honest, attentive, organized, caring, sincere, smart, brave, strong, smiling, positive, always ready to help others..." - said his wife Olga about her husband. The officer is buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv. Boris is survived by his wife, daughter, mother, brother, and sister. On August 23, 2024, by the Decree of the President of Ukraine, Lieutenant Colonel Boris Goroshko was awarded the title of "Hero of Ukraine" with the award of the "Golden Star" Order.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
