- Main Sergeant Boris Harmash was killed on October 20, 2023 during the performance of a combat mission near the village of Robotyne in the Zaporizhia region. The warrior was 52 years old. Boris was born in the city of Ichnia, Chernihiv region. He graduated from 4 classes of the local school No. 2, and then transferred to school No. 4. He obtained secondary vocational education as a projectionist at the Okhtyrka Vocational School. He served his conscription military service. He had the rank of junior sergeant. He volunteered for the Russian-Ukrainian war on July 7, 2015. He defended Ukraine as part of the 53rd Separate Mechanized Brigade. He held the position of a sniper. After the rotation of the soldiers, he was transferred near the village of Zaitseve in Donetsk region. Here in July 2016, the man received his first injury during an enemy artillery barrage. For the second time, he received a concussion and injury at these same positions. From November 2018 to May 2019, he fought as part of the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade, holding the position of a rifleman, then a grenade launcher. From January to July 2020, he held the position of a squad leader in the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade, and then the position of a commander of an infantry fighting vehicle, a squad leader. With the start of the full-scale invasion, together with his comrades-in-arms, he engaged in partisan activities, destroying enemy equipment that was advancing to capture Kyiv. On April 6, 2022, he was mobilized. And a month later, he joined the ranks of the 118th Brigade and defended Ukraine near Orikhiv, Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne and in the Melitopol direction. He was awarded the medal "Defender of the Fatherland". "A balanced, responsible, accurate, persistent and Cossack-bravely fighter. Boris Harmash always understood that Ukrainians would not have a peaceful life until the Russian boot trampled our land," they said about him in the Ichnia City Council. The defender was buried in his hometown. Boris is survived by his wife, four children and other relatives.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
