Denys S. Hrynenko

Senior soldier Denys Hrynenko was killed on May 19, 2023 in a battle in the area of Krasnohorivka, Donetsk region. The fighter received fatal injuries during an artillery barrage. The defender was 27 years old. Denys was born in Bakhmach, Chernihiv region. He graduated from Bakhmach Secondary School No. 1. He then mastered the profession of an electric gas welder at the Konotop Industrial and Pedagogical Professional College of Sumy State University. He served his conscription in the 95th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade. In civilian life, he worked in the primary trade union organization of the passenger car depot of the Bakhmach station of the Trade Union of Railway Workers and Transport Builders of Ukraine, and then at private enterprises. On March 9, 2022, the man joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine and went to defend Chernihiv and Kyiv, and later the Donetsk direction. Denys served in the 1st Separate Tank Brigade, where he held the position of a crew member of the anti-tank platoon. "My brother was a sincere, smiling person with an open soul, a reliable and fair comrade! He was always joking and boosting morale," wrote the deceased's cousin Alona Knyha. The warrior was buried in his hometown. At home, Denys was awaited by his parents, son, relatives and friends.
