- 21-year-old junior sergeant Dmytro Kupchyk (call sign Sevas) accepted his last battle on March 6, 2024 near the village of Orlivka in the Donetsk region. He received fatal injuries while storming enemy positions. Dmytro was born in Sevastopol in Crimea. After graduating from school, he went to study in Kyiv. He completed 2 courses at the National Transport University, where he studied at the automotive faculty. During the holidays, he worked at a car service station. He was interested in cars, their repair, models and everything related to them. He loved the village, where he went fishing, to the forest, and played football with friends. During the full-scale war, the guy became a fighter of the 3rd separate assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of deputy commander of a combat vehicle, gunner-operator in the "Hydra" unit. For worthy service, Dmytro was awarded a number of awards, in particular "For Service and Valor", "Golden Cross", "War Veteran", "For Wounds" and the Order of Courage of the III degree (posthumously). "My son is a Hero, but this does not make it easier for the heart and soul, because my son was to live in his native Ukraine. My son could not stay aside: from the very first days of the war, he joined the local Territorial Defense, then was on guard of a critical facility. "But this is not it," he said. Because it was as a warrior that he wanted to become and became, to defend the country in the very hell. He gave himself completely to the last breath to the defense of Ukraine. He was not afraid, he did not stay aside, he did not become a coward at his 20 years," the mother of the fallen defender said. The hero was buried in the village of Shpykiv in the Vinnytsia region. Dmytro is survived by his parents Olha Stepanivna and Volodymyr Mykolaiovych, brother Oleksii and uncle Viktor.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
