- 39-year-old soldier Dmytro Pohrebniak (call sign Pohrib) died on August 11, 2023 in a Kyiv hospital from severe injuries. While carrying out a combat mission in the Zaporizhzhia direction, he came under enemy artillery fire. Doctors fought for his life until the end. Dmytro was born and lived in Kyiv. He attended school No. 139. In 2008, he graduated from the National Aviation University with a master's degree in economics. Even during his student years, he started entrepreneurial activities, successfully combining work and study. After graduation, he worked in his field in the structural unit "Avtotsentr NAU". It was then that he developed a desire to open his own car service station, and the man became the owner of LLC "PDV auto". In his free time, he loved to play football with friends and be with his family. With the start of the full-scale invasion, Dmytro joined the local territorial defense unit. After hearing about the death of a close family friend in the early days of the war, he decided that he needed to take his place and defend the sovereignty of Ukraine in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. So he became a gunner in the 43rd separate artillery brigade named after Hetman Taras Trasylo. Together with his comrades-in-arms, he took part in the liberation of the Mykolaiv, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions. "Dmytro was an extraordinarily kind and decent person, sometimes even too much. He had a special sense of humor and his own position on any issue. He always treated everyone humanely and believed that the world could become better. Always calm, but with a powerful inner core. The best friend, beloved husband and most attentive father. We had many plans for life during the war and after the victory. Now he is always with me... In my heart, in our memory and in my soul... And our task is to preserve this memory..." - said the wife of the fallen Hanna. "It was very easy to work with him. I always knew that we were 100% on target. Otherwise, it's impossible with Dima. But it was sometimes not easy when we were not at work. And it was difficult because he was an extraordinary person. He took a lot on himself and did even more. He could never sit still - he always found some activity for himself and the whole calculation. Something interesting and useful. This is the experience that we will all carry with us for the rest of our lives," - shared his memories of his comrade-in-arms, gun commander Mykola Bellonin (Minyon). "Dimka is cheerful, kind... We often discussed something, and he, sipping his IQOS, would say: "This will be quality". He talked about his son with a special smile, squinting his eyes a little, as if smiling with them. And I remember how he was looking for "Lego" for the little one, and only the best..." - added his friend Maksym Melnyk (Sem). The defender was buried at the Berkovets cemetery in the capital. Dmytro is survived by his mother, wife, son, relatives, friends and comrades-in-arms. Posthumously, soldier Dmytro Pohrebniak was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
