- Soldier Illia Snihur (call sign Infinite) was killed on May 7, 2024 near the city of Lyman in the Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission, he sustained fatal gunshot wounds. He was only 27 years old. Illia was born in the city of Zhmerynka, Vinnytsia region. He studied at the local school No. 4. He then graduated from the Brailiv Vocational Lyceum. He served his conscription in the border troops. In civilian life, he worked in construction. In his free time, he loved fishing, drawing, and sports. During the full-scale invasion, the man joined the ranks of the defenders. He served in the 120th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a machine gunner in the 170th battalion. "Illia had a sincere soul. He was a ray of sunshine in bad weather. The kindest person I have ever known, only good things can be said about him, there is no bad memory. Very attentive. A person who knew how to listen and pay attention, always with sincere wishes for everyone. Despite the fact that we are cousins and have an age difference, we have always grown up like relatives, side by side. I have always been proud that I have an older brother whom I loved so much, and now I am proud of his courage, because on the first day of the war he made the decision to return to Ukraine: 'If everyone flees abroad, who will protect the native state, my relatives?' He joined the ranks of the volunteers, then joined the Zhmerynka territorial defense, and then, together with his comrades-in-arms from the 170th battalion of the 120th brigade, he held back the enemy in the hottest spots of the Donetsk region. In early May 2024, Illia and his comrades were transferred to carry out combat missions in the Kramatorsk direction, and on May 7, he lost the most precious thing - his life, the opportunity to plan, dream, start a family and enjoy life," said the deceased's cousin Maria Kolesnyk. The warrior was buried in the Alley of Glory of the cemetery in his hometown. Illia left behind a large family: mother Inna and father Oleksandr, sister Anastasia and her children, cousins, godparents, grandmother and grandfather, aunts and uncles.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
