Ivan I. Kurach

Staff Sergeant Ivan Kurach was killed in action on March 14, 2022, while performing his duties in the area of the village of Antopol in Rivne region, as a result of enemy rocket fire on the television tower. The defender turned 41 in February. Ivan was born in the village of Hrytsky, Rivne region. He lived in the city of Kostopil. In 2009, he graduated from the Open International University of Human Development "Ukraine" with a degree in "Jurisprudence" and obtained the qualification of a lawyer. He served in the National Guard of Ukraine, then resigned and became an entrepreneur. However, he later returned to service. He was a jack-of-all-trades and loved to craft things from wood. From the first days of the full-scale war, Ivan, as part of the NGU, began to defend Ukraine from Russian occupiers. He served in the 15th Separate Battalion. He defended his native Rivne region. "He was the best, beloved husband and loving father for us, with whom every moment of our life was happy," said the wife of the deceased, Victoria. The soldier was buried at the "Nove" cemetery in the city of Kostopil. At home, Ivan was waited for by his mother, wife, son, and two daughters. Posthumously, the defender was awarded the Order "For Courage" III degree.
