Kostiantyn V. Ploskyi (Bro)

Senior soldier Kostiantyn Ploskyi (call sign Bro) was killed on May 8, 2024, in battle in the area of the village of Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region. Together with his brother, they were clearing a house near their positions of two occupants. In April, the defender turned 28 years old. Kostiantyn was born in the city of Dnipro. After school, he entered a college at the Dnipro State Agrarian and Economic University, and later the university itself. There he obtained a bachelor's degree. He loved to read, was interested in history, self-development, and psychology. He spoke the Ukrainian language perfectly. According to his relatives, Kostiantyn had an excellent memory, so everything new came easily to him. He was pleasant to communicate with, kind, and tried to help everyone. Outside of work, he was a homebody, not very fond of traveling or any activities. Although he constantly went to the gym and kept himself in shape. He loved peace, nature, mountains, and socializing with friends. During his studies in the early years, he began working at the Nova Poshta company. In 2016, the young man was drafted into the army. He ended up in the National Guard, serving a year in his hometown, then another six months on a contract. He wanted to go fight in the ATO, but failed the medical examination due to his eyesight. After his service, he returned to Nova Poshta, managed to work in Odesa, and later took the position of head of branch No. 76 back in his hometown. In March 2022, Kostiantyn joined the ranks of the 128th separate brigade of the territorial defense. At first, he held the position of a clerk. The unit was stationed in the Zaporizhzhia direction. Kostiantyn's brother Maksym later also joined the army, but served in the Kharkiv direction. The brothers wanted to be together, and at the beginning of 2023, Maksym managed to transfer to Kostiantyn's brigade. By that time, Kostiantyn already held the position of a platoon commander. In 2023, he was sent to the village of Staromaiorske. They were going to make him a platoon commander, but did not have time. "I 'minused' one, the second one remained, he hid in the house. We went there, I scared him with the MANPADS, covered him there. I turn around, and Kostya is lying down. It turns out that the other Russian was alive. He killed my brother with one shot to the head. But he paid for it in full," Maksym recounted about the last joint battle with his brother. "They bought me a dog, gave it to me shortly before this tragedy. Now at least it's not so hopelessly lonely. And he himself kept postponing it, saying: 'After the war.' He wanted to buy a car for himself, my husband and I were just thinking of making him such a gift. And we didn't have time," added mother Oksana. Kostiantyn was buried in his hometown. He is survived by his parents and brother.
