- Born on August 12, 1989, in the urban-type settlement of Kivsharivka, Kupiansk City Council, Kharkiv Oblast. In 2004, he graduated from the 9th grade of Kupiansk Secondary School No. 11 in the urban-type settlement of Kivsharivka, and in 2006 - from Kupiansk Secondary School No. 12 in the urban-type settlement of Kivsharivka. From 2006 to 2012, he lived in the Russian Federation. He graduated remotely from the Kirov branch of the Moscow Financial and Legal Academy (Kirov city) with a degree in "law." He has been with the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine since December 2013. In June 2014, he graduated from the Training Center for Junior Specialists of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (now named after Major General Ihor Momot - military unit 9930, Orshanytsia village, Sosnivka district, Cherkasy city). From March to June 2014, as part of the motorized maneuver group of the Training Center, he carried out tasks to protect the state border of Ukraine in the Donetsk region. Since June 2014, he served as a junior inspector of the first category - a gunner-operator of the border service unit of the Separate Border Service Unit "C" of the Eastern Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Since June 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On July 16, 2014, the border patrol, which included Junior Sergeant Maksym Zakopailo, while performing a task to protect the state border of Ukraine in the area of the village of Syze, Stanytsia Luhanska district, Luhansk region, was ambushed by militants. The border guards engaged in a fight with the bandits, who were firing intensively with sniper and automatic firearms. As a result of the combat encounter, Junior Sergeant Maksym Zakopailo and Warrant Officer Mykola Postolny died from fatal gunshot wounds. On July 18, 2014, he was buried in the cemetery of the urban-type settlement of Kivsharivka, Kupiansk City Council, Kharkiv Oblast.Book of Remembrance for Ukraine - Ukrainian memorial
