- Born on April 5, 1984, in the village of Postolne, Zolochiv District, Kharkiv Region. Graduated from general education school No. 3 (now Lyceum No. 3) in the urban-type settlement of Zolochiv, Kharkiv Region. Lived in the village of Petrivka, Zolochiv District, Kharkiv Region. In the Border Guard of Ukraine (since 2003 - the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine) since 2002. Started service as a patrol officer. From 2004, served at the border post "Zolochiv," from 2008 - in the border service department "Tymofiivka," later - in another unit of the Kharkiv border detachment of the Eastern Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. In 2009, Mykola Postolny managed to single-handedly detain six men attempting to illegally cross the state border. The last position held was inspector of the II category - instructor of the border service unit of the Separate Border Service Unit "C" of the Eastern Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Since May 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. He served as a driver for the armored personnel carrier. On July 16, 2014, the border patrol, which included warrant officer Mykola Postolny, while carrying out a task to protect the state border of Ukraine, was ambushed by militants in the area of the village of Syze, Stanytsia Luhanska District, Luhansk Region. The border guards engaged in a firefight with the bandits, who were firing intensively with sniper and automatic firearms. As a result of the combat encounter, junior sergeant Maksym Zakopailo and warrant officer Mykola Postolny were killed, receiving fatal gunshot wounds. On July 17, 2014, he was buried in the cemetery of the village of Petrivka, Zolochiv District, Kharkiv Region.Book of Remembrance for Ukraine - Ukrainian memorial
