33-year-old sergeant Maksym Terentiev was killed in action on June 30, 2022, while performing a combat mission near the city of Avdiivka, Donetsk region. The defender received fatal injuries as a result of enemy artillery shelling. Maksym was born in the city of Zaporizhzhia. From childhood, he lived in the village of Matviivka, Zaporizhzhia region. He stu at the local general educational institution "Vsesvit". Later, he received the profession of a hot metal roller at the Zaporizhzhia Professional Metallurgical Lyceum No. 8. He worked in the pressing shop of the "Zaporizhstal" plant, first in his specialty, and then as a control panel operator. He was a respected employee, loved his job, despite the fact that it was difficult. However, he had a dream - to become a military man. He was interested in history, military literature, and loved watching movies. He led an active lifestyle, loved extreme sports, jumped with a parachute and bungee, drove a sports motorcycle "Suzuki", was fond of motorcycles and well understood cars. From the first days of the full-scale war, Maksym joined the ranks of the 503rd separate battalion of the marine infantry and defended Donbass. He served in the artillery department. His comrades called him Maks. "A real paratrooper, strong, persistent, willful, brave. He always clearly performed all tasks, was not afraid," said the commander of the unit. "Zaychik, everything is fine with me!" Maksym wrote to me while on the front line. He never complained about anything, I was convinced that he could endure everything! Even when it was very difficult, he once said: "My soul hurts for Ukraine." How I loved his strong hugs, strong hands, and falling asleep on his left shoulder, near his heart, it was so warm, filled with love, hope, tenderness, and optimism. He was my support, reliable, loyal, honest. In a dream, he told me: "I love it when you smile." So, I will smile - I promise, my love! My love for you is eternal!" wrote his wife Viktoria. "My dear son, my support, my hope. He was so strong, courageous! He always solved all issues. From childhood, he always took it upon himself to help, stu, never feared any work. It seems he knew how to do everything! He was a brave guy, skillfully drove a car. He loved communication. He loved life. He bravely went to defend his country! We are very sorry for our son, but we are also proud... Our Masya... That's what we called him at home..." says his mother Halyna Vasylivna. "For 13 years, Maks was with us, was the best friend, part of our family, and godfather of our two children. They say time heals. No. The pain of this loss is incurable. We are proud to have been friends of the Hero who gave his life for the country and stood up for the defense of each of us. Heroes do not die, you will live forever in our hearts, your godchildren will know what you were, we promise," said friends and relatives Viktor and Alina. Maksym was buried at the Matviivka cemetery in Zaporizhzhia. The hero left behind a wife, parents, and a grandmother. Posthumously, Sergeant Maksym Terentiev was awarded the Order "For Courage" of the III degree.
