Biography
Yamkovyi Maksym Serhiyovych was born on March 2, 1996, in the village of Pariivka, Vinnytsia Oblast. He studied at Illinetska Secondary School No. 1. In April 2018, he was drafted for compulsory military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. A few months later, he signed a contract with the Armed Forces and served in the area of the Anti-Terrorist Operation near the city of Rubizhne in Luhansk Oblast. He completed Leadership Courses at the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Ground Forces Academy. A year later, with the rank of junior lieutenant, he was assigned to serve in the 36th Separate Marine Brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Bilynskyi. Here, in September 2020, he took the position of tank platoon commander in the 2nd tank company. With the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, he was on the front lines. He was killed on February 27, 2022, during the defense of the city of Mariupol near the village of Pavlopil in the Sartana community of Mariupol District, saving the lives of crew members. The farewell ceremony took place on October 6, 2022, in the city of Illintsi, Vinnytsia Oblast. For personal courage and selfless actions demonstrated in the defense of Ukraine's state sovereignty and territorial integrity, and loyalty to the military oath, Yamkovyi Maksym Serhiyovych was posthumously awarded the Order of Daniel of Galicia.Burial place
