- 42-year-old border guard Maksym Fidria (call sign Historian) was killed on October 28, 2023, while performing a combat mission near the settlement of Kurdiumivka in the Donetsk region. He, along with his comrade, tried to save a wounded fellow soldier. Maksym was born and lived in Kramatorsk, Donetsk region. He studied at schools No. 34 and No. 10. He then graduated from the Kramatorsk Institute of Economics and Humanities, where he obtained a degree as a teacher of history, local history, and jurisprudence. For about 20 years, he taught history in schools in his hometown. He loved to travel the country, adored hiking, relaxing on rivers, read a lot, and listened to music. He was interested in history, mythology, philosophy, and heraldry. In 2020, the man changed his profession and joined the ranks of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. He served in the 11th border detachment. He held the position of a 3rd category border service inspector and a border rapid response unit shooter. Together with his comrades, he continued to fight during the full-scale invasion. "Maksym was a charismatic, strong-willed, strong personality, a true patriot. He loved his country, its history and landscapes. He adored the steppes of the Donetsk region, its scorching sun, which rises in the east of the country. He said that if he was killed, he would like it to be in his native steppes," his wife Olena said. The hero was buried in the cemetery in the village of Bilenke near Kramatorsk. Maksym is survived by his parents, wife, and son. Posthumously, Senior Sergeant Maksym Fidria was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
