Mykhailo V. Savchenko (Svaroh)

Lieutenant Mykhailo Savchenko (call sign Svarog) was killed on December 14, 2022 near the city of Marinka in the Donetsk region. After carrying out a reconnaissance combat mission, the officer came under enemy tank fire and received fatal injuries. The defender was 27 years old. Mykhailo was born and lived in the city of Kreminna, Luhansk region. In 2019, he graduated from the V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University with a degree in Marketing. In parallel, he studied at the military department and became a reserve officer. He was engaged in his own business - he developed a construction store. From a young age, he was passionate about military topics and engaged in sports. He loved to travel and spend time with his loved ones. He dreamed of a large family. When the full-scale war began, the man could not remain on the sidelines and went to defend Ukraine, dreaming of liberating his native Luhansk region from the occupiers. He became the commander of a reconnaissance platoon in the 35th separate marine brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Ostrohradskyy. "The war took away from us everything we loved so much: the city, the house, a peaceful life, plans for the future and the infinitely beloved husband and young father. On February 24, he told me: "War! I'm going to fight, to defend our city and family. Don't worry, everything will be fine with me. We have a cool army, it's for a few months. Don't worry, we will win..." And he left... My joy, dream, hope, love remained with him forever, and with me - longing and an ocean of tears... But I am infinitely grateful for our son David and for such a short time together - 2 years. Mykhailo was a wonderful loving husband, a good family man. Brave, courageous, strong in spirit and full of faith, he always conscientiously and diligently carried out tasks and achieved his goal. He was a good commander, solved all issues, did a lot on his own, helping his comrades-in-arms. Now he works as a guardian angel for the family, forever in our hearts..." - shared the memories of the officer's wife Anna. The warrior's body was cremated. Mykhailo is survived by his parents, brother, wife and son, who was only 1.5 months old at the time of his father's death.
