- Soldier Mykola Herashchenko died on February 16, 2023, in a hospital in Dnipro from numerous shrapnel wounds received on February 5 in a battle with Russian invaders near the settlement of Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region. While rescuing a National Guard soldier whose leg had been blown off, the fighter sustained severe injuries. And he did not survive, unfortunately. He was forever 41 years old. Mykola was born and lived in Chernihiv. He graduated from secondary school No. 21. He worked as a locksmith at the private enterprise "Altep-Center". He knew how to repair and fix everything. He got married and built a house for his family with his own hands. He liked to spend time with his family, watching cartoons with his children. With the beginning of the full-scale war, the man took up the defense of his country for the peaceful future of his loved ones. Mykola joined the ranks of the 167th separate battalion of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He became a reliable comrade and a responsible warrior, conscientiously carrying out combat missions and dreaming of returning home victorious. "He was reliable, courageous, strong-willed, and had many friends. He raised our son from the age of 5, loved him like his own. We were together for 15 years. I love him, I miss him, I want people to remember the price of our freedom... I miss him very much. He was my whole world, my friend. I loved doing everything with him and now I have lost a very strong support... But I think he is now my protector from heaven... He was very brave, he could always make me laugh, his eyes pierced me to the depths of my soul. I loved everything about him. He was a person with whom you could go through life, go on a reconnaissance mission, go into battle. My beloved, you are forever in my heart... May the Heavenly Kingdom be yours and eternal memory, our Hero!" - wrote the wife of the fallen soldier, Svitlana. The warrior was buried in his hometown. At home, Mykola was awaited by his wife, son, sisters, and friends.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
