- Junior Sergeant Mykola Myalkovskyi (call sign Myka) died on December 4, 2023 in the village of Torske, Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission, he received fatal injuries during an attack by a Russian drone. The warrior was 28 years old forever. Mykola was born in the city of Lutsk, Volyn region. He studied at school No. 1 and at the St. Josaphat Lyceum in Buchach. He then obtained a higher education at the National University of Ostroh Academy, majoring in Cultural Studies. He studied at the Catholic University of Lublin, and under an exchange program - at the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium). He settled in Poland. He worked in the Department of Strategy and Entrepreneurship of the Lublin City Hall and was responsible for projects related to academic cooperation. He was a versatile person. He painted together with his mother, artist Tetyana Myalkovska, engaged in sports, played the violin and sang in the church choir. He was a member of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic community and an active Christian figure. After the start of the full-scale invasion of the occupiers, the man returned to his homeland and joined the ranks of the defenders. He served in the 100th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was an operator and instructor of UAVs in the 54th battalion. During his service, the military was awarded the medal "For Military Valor" and posthumously - the award of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "Golden Cross". "Mykola is my pride, my Hero and my beloved. He was incredible. I have always been infinitely proud of him. On the first day of the full-scale invasion, he wrote a statement for dismissal at the Lublin City Hall in order to defend his homeland and the state. I have always been proud of his courage, bravery and courage. His beauty and kindness. He is a true example for me and all of us. And I have always strived after him. All his free time he devoted to improving his drone skills. He read, developed and prepared for the defense of our territories. Mykola is the flower of our nation. Now he is forever with us, in our hearts and memory," his beloved Anastasia Yashchuk said. The hero was buried in the Alley of Glory of the cemetery in the village of Harazdzha, Volyn region.
