- Defender Mykola Symchuk was killed on November 8, 2022, near the settlement of Nevelske in the Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission, he sustained fatal injuries from enemy artillery shelling. In December, he would have turned 48 years old. Mykola was born in the village of Budky in the Vinnytsia region. After finishing school, he studied at the Hnyvansky Professional Technical College No. 12, where he trained as an electric gas welder. Life turned out in such a way that he could not work in his specialty, but the skills and knowledge he acquired became a hobby. Benches, tables, children's swings, etc.—all of these were created with love and great craftsmanship. By profession, he was an electric network fitter. He loved to spend every free moment with his family. He was interested in history, geography, and music. He was a well-rounded individual. During the full-scale war, he took up arms to protect his family and home from the occupiers. Mykola served in the 37th Separate Motorized Infantry Battalion "Zaporizhzhia." He was the commander of a motorized infantry squad. “Dad was always a model of hard work, perseverance, restraint, courage, honesty, justice, loyalty, and humanity. A person who would always come to help, who would not judge and would remain silent to avoid causing pain to another. Words cannot express how hard it is to live and understand that you will never again hear his familiar voice or feel the warmth of his embrace. On November 8, 2022, the country lost a devoted citizen, and our family lost a part of our soul. Daddy, we love you across space and time…” wrote the soldier's daughter, Victoria. The defender was buried in the village of Penkivka in the Vinnytsia region. Mykola is survived by his parents, wife, and two children.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
