- Captain Oleg Sadyk (call sign Hammer) was killed on June 13, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission in the Zaporizhia direction. The defender was 29 years old. Oleg was born in the village of Lelyaky in the Kyiv region. From childhood, he was involved in sports, participated in school Olympiads. In adulthood, he was a participant in adult sports competitions, winning medals and first places in athletics, boxing, kickboxing, and combat sambo. He graduated from the Kyiv Slavic University and the National Academy of Internal Affairs with a degree in "Jurisprudence". He was interested in history."At the graduation exam at the university, he received a question on the history of the Ukrainian Cossacks and his captivating answer impressed the entire commission. In general, the Cossacks were his favorite topic. Close friends called him a Cossack, because this was 100% about him," says his wife Stella. In early July 2014, Oleg underwent a three-day course of a young fighter and immediately went to the front. Within a week, he took part in combat operations as part of the volunteer battalion "Shakhtar". He fought in Marinka, Pisky, went through the Ilovaisk cauldron, Shyrokyne. From October 2014 to January 2015, as part of the volunteer battalion "St. Maria", he defended the suburbs of Mariupol, Pavlopol, and Chermalyk. In 2015, Oleg joined the ranks of the "Azov". He was in all the hottest spots: Marinka, Pavlopol, Shyrokyne, the Svitlodarsk arc, Zolote. He held the position of commander of the 2nd platoon of the 3rd reconnaissance combat group of the separate special forces unit of the NGU "Azov". Since February 24, 2022, he has gone through the hell of Mariupol, "Azovstal". And on May 18, by order of the higher military leadership, Hammer, along with other fighters, was forced to surrender. At first, the occupiers kept him in Olenivka, then transferred him to the Donetsk pre-trial detention center. On September 21, 2022, during a large exchange of prisoners, Oleg returned home. After a short rehabilitation, he returned to the ranks again. He was the commander of the 1st reconnaissance platoon of special forces, engaged in combat training of a new combat group and led it into battle. During one of the tasks, Hammer was wounded, underwent two operations. But within a week he was back at the front, as he could not leave his fighters for long. Comrades-in-arms repeatedly mentioned that Oleg, despite his young age, was an example for many to follow, very responsible towards his group, and was like a father to them. When others lost hope, he said: "Nothing is in vain!" Oleg was awarded a number of state and departmental awards: the badge "Cossack Cross" of the III degree, the award "For Valor and Loyalty", the badge "Sector-M "For the Defense of Mariupol", the medal "Veteran of War", the award of the President of Ukraine "For Participation in the ATO", the badge "For Valiant Service", the Order of Courage of the III degree, the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky of the III degree. "Hammer. Such people are one in tens of thousands. I had the honor of knowing him. A top-level professional, a skilled fire training and tactics instructor, and a commander. This is a person of the old and new school of special forces, I have met only a few of them," wrote the fallen warrior Artem Kortkhondzhia about his comrade-in-arms Hammer. "Noble, responsible, courageous, strong in spirit, very capable, curious, sensitive, dreamy and cheerful. Beloved son, husband and father," - this is how Oleg Sadyk is remembered by his wife.
