That day, around 10:00, soldiers of the National Guard, who were on duty at a checkpoint near the village of Lysychne, 8 km from the Ukrainian-Russian border, noticed a column of two armored personnel carriers and trucks "KAMAZ," "Ural," and "Gazelle" moving from the territory of the Russian Federation. Some of the attackers wore green ribbons with the inscription "Chechnya" on their headgear.
