Oleh I. Kavaka (Kavaka)

24-year-old senior soldier Oleh Kavaka was killed on July 18, 2023 in the area of the village of Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region. While performing his official duties, he received fatal injuries during an enemy mortar attack. Oleh was born in the village of Kostiantynivka, Mykolaiv region. He studied there at school. He graduated from the Voznesensk Vocational Lyceum. He served conscript service in the National Guard of Ukraine. Then he settled in the city of Yuzhnoukrainsk in the Mykolaiv region. Since 2020, he has worked as a telecommunications technician. In his free time, he loved to create websites, repair computers and phones. During the full-scale Russian invasion, the man was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 9th separate motorized infantry battalion "Vinnytsia" of the 59th separate motorized infantry brigade named after Yakiv Handziuk. He held the position of gunner. "The guy was kind and positive, he never refused to help anyone, he had golden hands. In 2020, Oleh married his beloved Elizaveta, whom he had known for six years. Liza's mother was infinitely happy for her daughter, because she could not even imagine that such love was possible: Oleh carried his beloved in his arms, and during three years of married life, the newlyweds never quarreled. They dreamed of children, their own children's shoe store, and a carefree happy future... At the beginning of the war, Oleh, as a former National Guard soldier, was one of the first to be drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He did not hesitate for a second, because he believed that it was impossible to sit at home when there was a war, when it was necessary to defend the state. Since March 2022, he has served in the artillery troops, and in June 2023 he was transferred to the infantry. Through messengers, he constantly communicated with Liza, with his parents, with his older brother Oleksandr, who has also been serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine since the beginning of the war. Over 1.5 years, Oleh has become more mature and serious. At the same time, he never lost his optimism and love of life. The warrior came home for a short time several times, and his wife, despite the danger, visited her husband. And this time, Liza came to the Donetsk region and was waiting to meet him, but instead of Oleh, officers visited her and reported the terrible news: your husband was killed in battle... That battle took the lives of dozens of Ukrainian boys... Rest in peace, warrior, you did everything you could for the victory..." - they said in the Yuzhnoukrainsk community. The defender was buried in the Alley of Glory of the city cemetery in Yuzhnoukrainsk. Oleh left behind his parents, older brother and wife.
