Oleh M. Moskalenko

Oleg Mykolaiovych Moskalenko was born on October 14, 1980, in the city of Nizhyn, Chernihiv region. He worked in the structure of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine since 1999. During the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, he participated in combat operations from the very first day. He held the position of head of the radio station — technician of the communication and telemechanics group of the command and dispatch point of the radio technical center of the communication node, automated control systems, and radio technical support of the special aviation unit of the operational rescue service of civil protection of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. On February 23, 2022, Oleg Moskalenko began his combat duty regarding search and rescue support in the unified system for conducting aviation operations for search, rescue, and firefighting at the Nizhyn airfield. In the night of February 24, 2022, a massive missile attack on the infrastructure of the city of Nizhyn began from the side of the Russian Federation. Remaining at his post, Oleg Moskalenko continued to perform his official duties with dignity and bravery, particularly ensuring proper communication and information transfer. A direct hit from a Kalibr cruise missile occurred around 5:30. The enemy targeted the command and dispatch point. From the injuries sustained, Oleg died on the spot. For his personal courage and selfless actions displayed in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and for his loyalty to military oath, Oleg Mykolaiovych Moskalenko was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" of the III degree.
