- Born on May 31, 1988, in the city of Riga (Latvia). He lived with his family in the city of Novograd-Volynsk, Zhytomyr region. He graduated from general education school No. 7 in Novograd-Volynsk, Novograd-Volynsk Industrial and Economic College, and in 2011 - Zhytomyr State Technological University. From 2007 to 2010, he served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He initially served as a driver-electrician on conscription, then as a contractor as a service master of the 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0409, Novograd-Volynsk, Zhytomyr region). On March 11, 2014, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as the commander of the 2nd battery of heavy self-propelled artillery of the 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0409, Novograd-Volynsk, Zhytomyr region). Since July 17, 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. He was involved in the battles for the strategically important height of Savur-Mohyla (Shakhtarsk district of Donetsk region) and for the village of Stepanivka in the Shakhtarsk district of Donetsk region. On August 13, 2014, soldier Chizh was killed during the fighting in the village of Stepanivka in the Shakhtarsk district of Donetsk region. Since then, he was considered missing in action. In January 2015, he was identified among the deceased through DNA testing. On January 30, 2015, he was buried in the cemetery of the urban-type settlement of Yablunets in the Emilian district of Zhytomyr region.Book of Remembrance for Ukraine - Ukrainian memorial
