Oleksandr M. Synelnykov (Dok)

Combat medic Oleksandr Synelnykov (call sign Doc) was killed on June 8, 2022, near Sievierodonetsk in Luhansk Oblast. He was trying to provide assistance to a wounded comrade when the occupiers began an artillery shelling. In a month, Oleksandr would have turned 26 years old. Oleksandr was born in the city of Beryslav, Kherson Oblast. He finished medical college there. After graduating in 2015, he went to the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO). He held the position of head of the medical center. In 2019, after five concussions, he returned to peaceful life. From 2020, he lived with his family in Kyiv Oblast. He continued to receive higher medical education. In 2021, he received a diploma as a physical therapist and ergotherapist. He worked at the Kyiv Military Hospital. He had his own massage room. During the full-scale Russian invasion, Oleksandr returned to the army. He served in the main intelligence department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. He continued to save his comrades on the front line. However, he himself did not return home. Sasha tried to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the first day of the war. But our daughter was only 10 months old, and he did not know how to leave her and me. At first, Sasha was in the territorial defense, organized a medical center and humanitarian aid in our neighborhood, treated children and adults, because there were no doctors, the "ambulance" practically did not arrive. He and his friend delivered medicines and products to Kyiv schools. And in March, he finally decided to go to Irpin as a volunteer. He said: "I did what I could here, now I'm going to the guys, I'm needed there." My lover's calling was to help people. Fate always led him where he was needed. On the street, in transport, he always found himself next to people who needed medical help. Even in the middle of the night, he went to help when the "ambulance" refused to go (there were such cases, because the patients were foreigners). Sasha also wrote poetry and sang. He was a true patriot of his country, never spared himself for others. Together with him, I was killed, but I have to continue to exist for the sake of our daughter. He was my dearest person... I will love him until the end of my life," said the hero's wife, Karina. The defender was buried in the village of Sofiivska Borshchahivka, Kyiv Oblast. Oleksandr left behind his parents, wife, and daughter. Posthumously, Sergeant Oleksandr Synelnykov was awarded a certificate of gratitude and the distinction "For the Defense of Kozyubynsky" and a medal from the Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate "For Courage in the Performance of Special Tasks".
