Oleksandr P. Bratchuk (Diadia Sasha)

Bratschuk Oleksandr Petrovych was born on December 14, 1967, in the city of Zhashkiv, Cherkasy region. Since February 25, 2022, he has been defending Ukraine from the Russian invasion, holding the position of a crew member of the 2nd mortar battery of the 1st mechanized battalion of the 72nd separate mechanized brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians. On October 29, 2022, during the offensive of the Russian 155th brigade in the area of the village of Pavlivka, Donetsk region, while on the zero position, he and his brigade took the full brunt of the attack. Trying to repel the assault, Oleksandr Bratschuk neutralized 1 BMP, and while attempting to neutralize a second BMP, he was fatally wounded. Since October 29, 2022, he has been considered missing. He was buried on December 14, 2022, in the city of Zhashkiv. For personal courage and heroism displayed in defending the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as loyalty to the military oath, Oleksandr Petrovych Bratschuk was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
