Biography
Aleksandr Petrovych Kobernyk was born on June 2, 1970, in the village of Staryi Pochaiv, Ternopil region, in the family of a serviceman. From 1977 to 1984, he studied at the Pochaiv secondary school. After his family moved to Dzhankoy (Autonomous Republic of Crimea), he continued his education at local secondary schools. He graduated from the wind instrument department of the Crimean College of Culture and the philological faculty of the Simferopol State University. He also completed a master's program in "Educational Institution Management" at the Hryhorii Skovoroda Pereiaslav-Khmilnytskyi State Pedagogical University. He studied by correspondence at the I. Ya. Horbachevskyi Ternopil National Medical University in the "Public Health" program. In 1988-1990, he served in the military. After graduating, he worked as a teacher of the Ukrainian language and literature at Dzhankoy Secondary School I-III grades No. 3. In 1992, he got married. In 1993, he moved with his wife to Novovolynsk, where he later worked as a teacher of the Ukrainian language and literature and also headed a music group at the Novovolynsk Center for Children and Youth Creativity. In 2000, he decided to devote himself to serving the church and received the ordination of a pastor of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. From 2001, he served as a pastor in the communities of the Volyn region. He made a lot of effort to develop the Pathfinder movement. In 2007, the family moved to Lviv, where Aleksandr Kobernyk became the founder and first director of the private lyceum "Living Word", while also performing pastoral service. Later, he worked as a primary school teacher at the "Prosvita" lyceum. In 2016, he was elected director of the private educational complex "Happy City" in Tyachiv, Zakarpattia region. With the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, he volunteered to defend Ukraine. He served in the ranks of the 125th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, holding the position of senior combat medic. He was killed on October 20, 2022, while performing his military duties in the village of Torske, Kramatorsk district, Donetsk region. He was buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery. Aleksandr Kobernyk is survived by his wife and three children.Burial place
