- 22-year-old Lieutenant Alexander Yankovsky was killed on May 21, 2022, while performing a combat mission in the Liman district of Donetsk region. Alexander was born in the city of Rubizhne, Luhansk region, and lived in Kreminna. Since school years, he has been involved in sports, played for the city football team. Once at the competitions, he was even persuaded to enter a sports boarding school in Donetsk, but he refused — did not want to leave his father and sister. When he chose a military career for himself, he moved to Kharkiv. There he graduated from the Military Institute of Tank Forces of the National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute". He graduated as an officer of the tactical level, a master of ensuring troops with radiation, chemical, biological protection and environmental safety of troops. He was supposed to finish his studies in the fall of 2022, but due to the war, his studies were completed in an accelerated form. In the spring, he received the rank of lieutenant and joined the ranks of defenders of our Motherland. He was one of the best graduates of the course. Alexander held the position of deputy commander of the company - instructor of airborne training of the company of radiation, chemical and biological protection. "Everyone who knew my brother knows what a bright person he was. My brother and I had a rather difficult childhood, we had to grow up very quickly. But he never complained about anything, never scolded anyone, always helped those who asked him for something. The last time we saw each other was a few minutes near the gas station, when he was driving to the front in the Donetsk region. It was April 1. I was so proud of him when he told me about his desire for victory, he was so cheerful and, as always, smiled. This pain will never subside. Dad still cannot recover, and I try to live on, smile for him, but every day I see him in my dreams and cry. He was more than a brother to me, he is my soul," said his sister Natalia. The young officer was buried on the Alley of Glory of the Krasnopilskoe cemetery in the city of Dnipro. Alexander left behind his father and sister.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
