- Sergeant Major Oleksandr Kamenchuk (call sign Kasper) was killed on November 28, 2023 in the area of the village of Ivanivka, Kharkiv region. While carrying out a combat mission, he received fatal injuries as a result of enemy artillery shelling. The hero was 46 years old. Oleksandr was born in the village of Chervona Voloka, Zhytomyr region. He studied at the Berdychiv School of Warrant Officers. In 1998-2004, he served in the settlement of Vovkoyntsi, holding the position of head of the warehouse for the repair and storage of topographic equipment and property. After the reduction of the unit, he worked as a tractor-combine operator, in construction and at a factory. He loved to make works of art from improvised materials. He loved construction, adored playing football and joking a lot. In 2014, the man went as a volunteer to the ATO. He fought as part of the 53rd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During the full-scale invasion, he again took up arms. He served in the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade "Edelweiss". He held the position of combat vehicle commander, squad commander in the 108th Separate Battalion. In May, in the area of the settlement of Spirne, Donetsk region, he saved five comrades, leading them out of the battlefield, but was himself seriously wounded. He underwent surgery, underwent rehabilitation and in August returned to his comrades. The soldier was awarded the "For Wounds" (severe) distinction and the "Defender of the Fatherland" medal. "Dad fought on the hottest fronts. His perseverance, strong, reliable character, combat experience, human and professional qualities were highly valued by both commanders and comrades. He skillfully handled firearms and was always eager to go first. Dad was afraid of nothing, he was always a hero and a reliable support for our family. He always charged those around him with calmness and faith that everything would be fine. To his friends and relatives he kept saying: "Who, if not us?". He was a man of his word, loved his Motherland and always had a positive attitude towards life. He was a wonderful dad, husband, son and friend. For me personally, he is an example of a true man, a faithful friend and a brave warrior with a big heart. They say a person lives as long as they are remembered, so Dad will live forever. We miss him very much..." - said Andriy Kamenchuk. Oleksandr was buried in his native village. He is survived by his mother, younger brother, wife and son.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
