Oleksii V. Mazurenko

31-year-old senior lieutenant Oleksiy Mazurenko died on August 18, 2022, at a Kyiv hospital from injuries received in battle with the occupiers. On August 14, while performing a combat mission, the officer, together with his comrades, got into an enemy ambush near the village of Bohorodychne, Donetsk region. Oleksiy was wounded by firearms in the left thigh. Having received the order to retreat, he still tried to help the wounded comrades. Oleksiy was born in the village of Mytnitsa, Kyiv region. After finishing the local school, he entered the Academy of Municipal Management for the specialty "Automation and Computer-Integrated Technologies". In parallel, he stu at the military department under the program of reserve officers at the National Defense Academy of Ukraine. In 2012, Oleksiy met his future wife Iryna. It was love at first sight. On August 9, 2014, the couple got married, a year later their first child was born, whom Oleksiy named Bohdan. Even before the wedding, he began building his own house, with his parents helping a little. Almost all the construction work was done by the whole family. In early February 2021, the young family moved into a new home. That same year, their second son Andriy was born. They lived happily, had many dreams and plans. After the 4th course, Oleksiy went to work as a locksmith at "Kyivenergo". When he finished university, he was immediately appointed as a master. At that time, two brigades of workers were under his supervision. When the full-scale war began, Oleksiy joined the territorial defense, the volunteer unit "Shield of Vasylkiv". He patrolled the streets of his native village, stood at checkpoints. On February 26, 2022, he was appointed as the deputy of the village head of Mytnitsa. Once in Mytnitsa, he even caught a saboteur, who was handed over to the police and sent to Kyiv. Without saying anything to his family, Oleksiy went to the military commissariat and, as his relatives learned after his death, asked to be sent to the front as a volunteer. He told his family that he had been mobilized. In May, Oleksiy was sent to study at the Odesa Academy. And already the next month, he was appointed as the commander of the platoon of the 90th separate airmobile battalion of the 81st separate airmobile brigade of the DShV of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In two months, there were many battles. The officer skillfully managed his subordinates, gaining experience and authority due to his fair and strong-willed character. "I ask God for just one second... Just let him go... Just let him go for a moment into my arms. She is not there... And there are no words, no warm, tender evenings! And the heart is wrapped in sadness, and strong pain burns it. But I know, I feel - you are here, with me, just in another dimension!!! We are together! Only You - in heaven, and I - on earth... My beloved Warrior of Light, my Angel in heaven", - wrote the officer's wife Iryna. The hero was buried in his native village. At home, Oleksiy's parents, sister, wife, and two sons were waiting for him.
