Biography
Halikov Opanas Heorhiiovych was born in 1997 in the village of Berezyne, Bolhrad district, Odesa region. After graduating from the 9th grade of a secondary school, he entered the Poltava Vocational College of Transport Construction. After graduating from this educational institution, at the age of 18, he joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The guardian of the young man gave permission to go to the front. After the death of his mother, it was difficult for his father Heorhii Halikov with the small children. He divorced his wife long before her death and since then has lived in the Poltava region. Therefore, his children (Opanas along with his brothers) were taken by his aunt and moved to the village of Tarutyne in the Odesa region. Opanas Halikov participated in combat operations since 2016. During his service in the ATO in eastern Ukraine as part of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade "Kholodnyi Yar", Opanas in 2017 accidentally met his father in the Donetsk region. His unit was going on rotation, and his father was taking up combat positions. With the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he was at the forefront. In particular, in March-April 2022, he took part in the liberation of the cities of Trostianets and Okhtyrka in the Sumy region. Then he fought near Izium in the Kharkiv region. He was killed on April 25, 2022, during heavy shelling in the Kharkiv region. The farewell ceremony took place on May 1, 2022, in his native village of Berezyne, Bolhrad district, Odesa region. For personal courage and selfless actions, displayed in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the military oath, Opanas Heorhiiovych Halikov was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree (posthumously).Burial place
