Petro M. Samborskyi (Abrek)

Senior soldier Petro Samborskyi (call sign Abrek) was killed on March 16, 2023 near the village of Novodanilivka in the Zaporizhia region. While carrying out a combat mission, the defender came under enemy mortar fire. The warrior was 45 years old. Petro was born in the village of Ustia, Vinnytsia region. He graduated from 9 grades of a rural school, then went to tractor driver courses. He served his compulsory military service, and later worked as a communications operator in the district telephone communications department. However, at the call of his heart, he still changed his profession to a mechanic in the motor pool and was passionate about it throughout his life. In 2014-2015, he participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation in Donbas, received two concussions, and later returned home. In the first days of the full-scale war, Petro returned to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend his native country for the second time. He fought against the occupiers as part of the 65th Separate Mechanized Brigade. He was a rifleman. "He had a special greeting manner that was unique to him. Always smiling and sincere. A person who helped at any time and anyone. He was always in a hurry. He willingly communicated with both adults and children. He found topics for conversation with everyone. The children happily dragged their equipment, because they knew that Uncle Petro would definitely fix it. During his last leave, he said goodbye to everyone, as if he felt it was the last meeting. He bought sweets for the children. He went to confession, visited his comrades-in-arms at the cemetery, and later became their neighbor. Eternal memory and eternal kingdom to our Hero and all the fallen defenders," said the godmother of the deceased, Roksolana. "Everyone who knew Petro never ceased to be amazed by his determination, energy, desire to fight, destroy the enemy, and achieve victory. He was a true warrior. It is difficult to find words of comfort, it is impossible to heal the pain and bitterness of losing a loved one. But may the good, bright memory of the fallen defender of Ukraine become stronger than death and forever remain in the memory of relatives, friends, comrades-in-arms, all who knew him, loved and respected him," added the Bershad City Council. The warrior was buried in his native village. Petro is survived by his mother Olena Kyrylivna, father Mykhailo Mykolaiovych, relatives, friends and comrades-in-arms.
