Petro V. Chornook (Chornyi)

Soldier Petro Chornook (call sign Chornyi) was killed on January 20, 2024, while repelling an enemy assault in the area of the village of Stelmakhivka in the Luhansk region. The warrior was 48 years old. Petro was born in Almaty (Kazakhstan). Since 1988, he lived in Kreminna, Luhansk region. He graduated from the Rubizhne Industrial and Pedagogical Professional College and obtained the qualification of an electrician-mechanic. In 2002-2022, he worked at the company "VIKO-Ukraine", then until 2023 he was an electromechanic at the Kyiv LLC "Vent-Service". He was fond of rifles and generally loved small arms. In March 2023, Petro voluntarily joined the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine. He served in the 1st Brigade of Operational Designation "Burevii". He defended the northern and eastern directions of the front. "Petro was a bright person, decent, reliable, honest and principled. A sincere and true friend. He was demanding of both himself and those around him. A man of action. Brave and courageous. He could not stand aside, he voluntarily went to war. He very much wanted to speed up the liberation of Kreminna," his wife Tetiana said. The national guardsman was buried in the Alley of Heroes of the Berkovetsky cemetery in Kyiv. Petro is survived by his mother, wife and daughter.
