- Soldier Roman Yakh (call sign Lyakh) died on October 23, 2023 in the Kyiv military hospital. On October 14, during a mortar shelling of positions near the village of Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, he received a serious injury. He was evacuated to the military hospital in Dnipro, where he was operated on and then transferred to the capital. However, his body could not withstand the burden after the third operation, and the warrior's heart stopped. He was forever 28 years old. Roman was born in the village of Artasiv, Lviv region. He studied at the local school. He grew up kind, shy and gentle. He was responsible, always protecting and defending his younger brother from troubles. In his youth, he began to show talent for cooking, which determined his further fate. Later, he graduated from Vocational School No. 71 in Kamyanka-Buzka, where he obtained the profession of a cook-waiter. He moved to Lviv. He got a job at the Khlebprom concern. With his perseverance and professionalism, he conquered the management and quickly climbed the career ladder, growing from a raw material preparer to a 6th grade operator of a flow-automatic line. In parallel with his work, he was getting a second education at the Lviv Professional College of Food and Processing Industry. He adored nature, where he rested with his heart and soul. In May 2023, the man joined the ranks of the 79th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and went east. He held the position of a sapper in the engineering and sapper company. Family was always the top priority for Roman. He was not talkative, always felt when a person was feeling bad and just needed to be silent nearby. He took responsibility for everyone. He was the head of the family, the best friend and advisor for his beloved. "Everyone knows him as a kind, shy guy. I know him as a courageous, incredibly loving, with a wonderful sense of humor that just made me fall in love, and the most sincere smile," wrote the fallen soldier's fiancée.
