Roman S. Skalskyi (Smith)

Skalskyi Roman Stepanovych was born on November 29, 1996 in the city of Lviv. In 2003, he began studying at secondary school No. 63, later transferred to secondary school No. 82, which he graduated from in 2012. He continued his studies at the Lviv Technical and Economic College of the National University "Lviv Polytechnic" in the specialty "Construction and operation of buildings and structures". Then he continued his studies in the specialty at the National University "Lviv Polytechnic", where in 2019 he obtained a master's degree. After graduation, he worked at various enterprises, and later became a private entrepreneur. He loved Ukrainian songs and jazz. With the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, he voluntarily took up the defense of his native land. He served as part of the 125th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the position of the commander of a rifle unit. In June 2022, he got married, and soon after the wedding, he left for the combat zone as part of the unit. In a telephone conversation, he told his wife: "We have not surrendered a single meter of our land. It was difficult for us, but we will never be ashamed." He died on January 5, 2023 in the area of the village of Torske, Donetsk region. Roman is survived by his wife, parents, two older sisters and a brother. The defender was buried in the field of honorary burials of the Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv.
