- 44-year-old senior sergeant Roman Srazhevskyi (call sign Matiz) was killed on November 25, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Ivanivka in the Kharkiv region. While rescuing his wounded comrades, he sustained fatal injuries during enemy mortar shelling. Roman was born in the village of Zhyhailivka, Sumy region. He received secondary education. He lived with his family in the village of Rokytne, Kharkiv region. He worked in the production of pool pavilions at the Kompal company. Colleagues remember him as a reliable and responsible employee. He was passionate about fishing, car racing, and drifting. In general, he was very active and loved adrenaline. He had many friends because he was cheerful and sociable. When the full-scale war began, the man went to defend his homeland. On March 15, 2022, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 43rd separate mechanized brigade, holding the position of platoon sergeant. "We lived about 8 happy years in incredible love and respect. The man became my whole world, replacing my relatives, close ones, and friends. He became a real dad to my daughter from the first marriage, he was the first in all her achievements, taught her a lot, and she looked up to him. The whole world turned upside down when he was gone... He went to war because he didn't want the enemy to come to our house. I want to forever etch his name and surname, because he deserves it... His colleagues remember him as a good and kind person, his comrades-in-arms treated him with respect, acquaintances could not believe that such a good person went to heaven, his relatives are in despair. Throughout his life, he did not make any enemies, no one can say anything bad about him, because his soul was bright... It is very painful that such people are taken by the heavens," said the widow of the fallen. "In peacetime, Roman was balanced and calm, always positive, friendly towards others, and caring for his loved ones. He had a good and sensitive heart. He lived with his wife in Rokytne, where they had bought a house. They dreamed of arranging their cozy family nest," noted the Novodolazhska community. The defender was buried in the village of Nova Vodolaha, Kharkiv region. At home, Roman was awaited by his wife Kateryna and daughters Yuliia and Oryna.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
