Biography
Gurin Ruslan Ivanovich was born on July 2, 1973. He grew up in Dnipropetrovsk. The boy's father worked as a shop supervisor at the Dnipropetrovsk military factory. Ruslan lived in Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk region. He was involved in sports and was a candidate for master of sports. He married his wife Olena, who is from Ternopil region, in 1992, and they raised two children. He served in the military with the rank of ensign in the Nikopol military unit, holding the position of communicator. Before his discharge, he served as the company commander. After leaving the Armed Forces of Ukraine, he became the head of the internet provider "Ekspres." Ruslan's wife worked at the Nikopol telephone exchange and later served as a communicator in her husband's military unit — the 301st anti-aircraft missile regiment, where she held the position of senior mechanic. In 2014, Ruslan Gurin volunteered as part of the reconnaissance unit of the 37th Separate Motorized Infantry Battalion "Zaporizhzhia" to defend the country in the East. He commanded a unit on the eastern outskirts of Ilovaisk and held out for 21 days. On August 24, 2014, his reconnaissance group captured 10 Russian paratroopers who had "got lost" near the village of Dzerkalne — the group went on a reconnaissance mission and shot down a Russian BMD with paratroopers using an RPG-18 "Mukhа." The paratroopers admitted they were from Kostroma (Russia). He managed to escape the Ilovaisk encirclement alive. Near Amvrosiivka, he captured and handed over to military court two "Danish Cossacks" who were drunk and were assaulting local women. During one of the reconnaissance missions, they captured a terrorist in his house during a feast when he was celebrating his birthday. When the pro-Russian spotter saw that he was being taken to Ukrainian positions, the traitor had an involuntary bowel movement. After a battle at the terrorists' checkpoint, Ruslan carried an injured subordinate on his back for about a kilometer. Near the village of Velyka Shyshivka in Donetsk region, he sustained a shrapnel wound to his shoulder. In 2015, he was on leave, and that same year he was demobilized. His son Oleksiy, after finishing 9 grades, enrolled in the Kryvyi Rih Military Sports Lyceum. His daughter Anastasia stuwas killed at Zaporizhzhia National University. Ruslan Gurin shared his memories in the film "Without the Right to Glory." He was killed in battles against the aggressor while repelling the Russian invasion of Ukraine (the location is unspecified). For his personal courage and selfless actions displayed in defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and loyalty to the military oath, Ruslan Ivanovich Gurin was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" II degree.Burial place
