Ruslan O. Zelenyi (RuSiK)

Senior soldier Ruslan Zelenyy (call sign RuSiK) died on September 18, 2023 during enemy mortar shelling. He was carrying out a combat mission near the village of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. The warrior was 33 years old. Ruslan was from the village of Dumenko in the Vinnytsia region. He lived in Vinnytsia. In 2007, he graduated from Lozova Secondary School. Three years later, he graduated from Kamianets-Podilskyi Industrial College with a degree in "Open Mining of Minerals", where he obtained the qualification of a mining engineer. Later, he studied at the Dnipropetrovsk National Mining University. He worked at the Hnivan Granite Quarry, holding the position of site manager. After the start of the full-scale invasion, he could not remain on the sidelines and voluntarily went to military service. Together with his brother, he defended the integrity of Ukraine in the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia directions. He fought as part of the 14th Operational Purpose Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine "Chervona Kalyna". He held the position of rifleman-cook. During his service, he was awarded the "Veteran of War" badge. "I miss him very much... I'm glad he was in my life and will now remain in my heart forever," said his brother Oleksiy Zelenyy. The warrior was buried in his native village in the Vinnytsia region. Ruslan is survived by his parents, wife, children and brother.
