50-year-old soldier Ruslan Shevchenko (call sign "Baker") died on July 19, 2024, while performing his official duties in the area of the village of Yampil in the Donetsk region. The defenders' vehicle was involved in a traffic accident. Ruslan was born in the city of Severodonetsk, Luhansk region. He studied at Vocational School No. 26 in Mykolaiv, worked in his profession for a short time, as he was drafted into the army. He lived with his family in the city of Pivdenne, Odesa region. He worked as a baker in the mini-bakery "Fragrant Hut". In his free time, he loved fishing very much. During the full-scale Russian invasion, in October 2023, the man was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as part of the 115th Separate Mechanized Brigade. He did what he did best - he was a cook in the material support platoon. "My husband was a positive person, he always joked, never saw anything bad. Everyone who knew him sent him to the show 'Make the Comedian Laugh'. When they jokingly asked me, 'How do you live with him?', I answered: 'Like in a circus'. In fact, it was like that, in 20 years there was not a single day of boredom with him. He worked as a baker for many years and loved his job very much. He constantly told me that we would educate the children and he would open his own croissant shop on the French Riviera. This was his dream, which will never come true now," said the widow of the deceased, Oksana. Ruslan was buried in the cemetery in the village of Sychavka. The defender left behind a father, brother, wife, two daughters and a son.
