- Junior Sergeant Serhiy Chaykovsky (call sign Borets) was killed on July 19, 2022, while performing a combat mission near the city of Izyum, Kharkiv region. The platoon commander received a fatal shrapnel wound. He did not live to see his 37th birthday, which was just nine days away. Serhiy was born in the city of Dnipro. He stu at the Prydniprovska State Academy of Physical Culture and Sports. He held the title of Master of Sports in Taekwondo. He served in the Kyiv police department. He was the commander of a special forces platoon. During his service, he trained personnel. In 2014, Borets was mobilized to the 25th Airborne Brigade. He took part in the liberation of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk from occupation in Donetsk region. After the death of his comrade, he transferred to the 79th Air Assault Brigade, defending Donetsk Airport. In 2015, Serhiy Chaykovsky was awarded the Order of Courage III degree for raising the Ukrainian flag over the airport and participating in the blowing up of terminals. During his service, he was wounded twice and concussed. After that, he underwent rehabilitation for a long time, but then returned to the Armed Forces of Ukraine again. When the full-scale war began, Borets served in the reconnaissance company of the 93rd separate mechanized brigade "Kholodny Yar". "Serhiy was an example for many. He was a true patriot of his state and for it. Standing to the end was the meaning of his life. He saved the lives of many heroes like himself. Ukraine should be proud of its heroes," said Iryna Chaykovska, the fighter's ex-wife. The defender was buried in Chernivtsi region. Serhiy left behind his father and son.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
