Serhii A. Hnatiuk (Pidryvnyk)

Sergeant Serhii Hnatiuk (call sign Detonator) was killed on November 11, 2022 near the settlement of Zamozhnye in the Kherson region. During the performance of a combat mission, the soldier was blown up by an enemy mine. He was 35 years old. Serhii was born in the village of Novofedorivka, Mykolaiv region. After graduating from the local school, he moved to the city of Kryvyi Rih in the Dnipropetrovsk region. He graduated from the Polytechnic College of Kryvyi Rih National University. He worked as an excavator operator at the mine of PJSC "Kryvbaszalizrudkom". He devoted his free time to his family. He loved to fish. In 2015-2016, the man participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation in Donbas. He was awarded the medal "For the Defense of the Native State". Then he returned to civilian life and his former job. From the first days of the full-scale Russian invasion, Serhii again took up the defense of Ukraine. He served in the 96th battalion of the 60th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "My husband was the Universe for us. He lived for me, the child, his parents, and only then thought about himself. My Serhii, you are the best! We miss you very much," said the wife of the fallen. The defender was buried on the Alley of Glory in Kryvyi Rih. Serhii is survived by his parents, his wife Anna, his son Nikita, and many relatives. He was posthumously awarded the badge "For Merit to the City".
