Serhii M. Doroshenko

Soldier Serhii Doroshenko died on September 23, 2023, near the villages of Pozhnya and Popivka in the Sumy region. While returning from a combat mission, he fell into an ambush of an enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group. Serhii was 39 years old. He was born in the city of Romny in the Sumy region. He graduated from the Pustoviitkivska Secondary School named after P.I. Kalnyshevskyi. He was involved in sports and won championships in the district and region in athletics. Then he went to study at the Romny Higher Vocational School No. 14, where he obtained the profession of an electric welder. This profession became his lifelong passion. He served for 1.5 years in a border unit in western Ukraine. When he returned to his native Sumy region, he mainly worked in his specialty. In particular, for the last 15 years - in a private company, and before that - in construction in Kyiv and as an elevator operator in Sumy. He was engaged in the manufacture of metal structures, where he showed creativity and ingenuity, and was also interested in the repair of electrical and radio equipment. The man was also interested in historical finds and collected coins. He loved nature, traveling, loved to pick mushrooms, fish, and grow indoor plants. He tried his hand at many decorative and applied crafts and everything was excellent. He instilled a love of sports in his little daughter Bohdanka. He himself proposed the name for her. During the full-scale invasion, he served in the 117th separate brigade of the territorial defense. He held the position of machine gunner-gunner. "Serhii was bright, kind, sensitive and sincere, decent, honest, fair and responsible, cheerful and creative. A hard worker. He had a clear position and his own opinion on any issue. A real, courageous man. A loving beloved, the most tender father, the closest friend for his brother, a caring son, a wonderful godfather to many children, the most sincere comrade and godfather, a responsible employee and a warrior, to whom many people are grateful. Our husband and father was our love, support, foundation, comfort, protection, our friend, personal psychologist, motivator, the meaning of life that we have lost... He is a part of the soul of our family, which is now forever torn apart... There are not enough words to fully describe what kind of person he was..." - said his wife Tetiana Chala. The defender was buried in the central cemetery in the village of Pustoviitkivka, Sumy region. Serhii is survived by his parents, wife, daughter and brother.
