- Sergiy Mykolayovych Zmunchilov was born on September 10, 1991, in the village of Stepne, Volnovakha district of Donetsk region. In 2014, he graduated from Donetsk National University of Economics and Trade named after M. Tugan-Baranovsky. He has been serving in the State Emergency Service since July 2015. He held the position of firefighter-rescuer in the 68th State Fire and Rescue Unit of the 11th State Fire and Rescue Squad of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Donetsk region. His parents raised Sergiy to be a kind and fair man, always ready to help. During his school and university years, he was a cheerful and reliable friend. After graduating from university, he decided to dedicate his life to saving people. In 2017, Sergiy got married, and in 2018, the couple became happy parents. He was an exemplary husband and father, spending all his free time with his family. He loved his daughter and wife above all. His colleagues have many kind and vivid memories of Sergiy; they remember him as responsible, kind, and resourceful. Since February 24, 2022, active hostilities have been taking place in the territory of Volnovakha district of Donetsk region, and the city of Volnovakha has been constantly suffering from enemy shelling. On the morning of February 25, 2022, Sergiy was returning home after a day of duty. At that time, Russian troops carried out a massive artillery shelling that began suddenly, and the rescuer did not even have time to hide in a safe place. An explosion occurred near Sergiy, resulting in severe multiple injuries, and he died in the hospital the next day, February 26, 2022. Sergiy's loyalty to his work, high professionalism, and selfless labor will always be an example for rescuers and the personnel of the State Emergency Service. The bright memory of him will live in the hearts of his relatives, friends, and colleagues for many years. "I knew Sergiy as a kind, sensitive, and cheerful man. In the team, he was always the life of the party. The guys say that he performed his duties impeccably at work. It's very sad that the war takes young men. This is an irreparable loss for the entire Volnovakha garrison," says colleague Olha Khanina. His beloved wife is left without him, his daughter without a loving father, and the entire family of rescuers in Ukraine without a professional and devoted colleague.Memory Book of the MIA System
