Biography
Mishchenko Serhii Oleksiiovych was born on May 21, 1974, in the city of Zinkiv in the Poltava region. He received his secondary education at the Protsenkivska school. In childhood, he dreamed of becoming a military man, as his father was a border guard and his grandfather served in a tank destruction unit. From 1991 to 1993, he served in the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine. He then received a legal education and worked in the Opishnia police unit. He was engaged in entrepreneurial activities in the construction sector in partnership with his brother Yevhen and had his own team of builders. From the first days of the full-scale war, he went to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the military position of platoon commander of the anti-tank missile systems of the 87th anti-tank division of the 45th separate artillery brigade of the reserve corps of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He took part in the battles for Kyiv, in the battles near the city of Barvinkove in the Kharkiv region, near the villages of Virnopillia and Brazhkivka in the Kharkiv region. His comrades-in-arms called him the "tank destroyer". In total, Serhii Mishchenko destroyed 35 units of Russian military equipment. During one of the battles, he destroyed 7 units of Russian military equipment, including four tanks. He died on December 1, 2022, while performing a combat mission in the village of Kovalivka, Svatove district, Luhansk region. The farewell to the fallen took place on December 7, 2022, in the city of Poltava. He was buried in the central cemetery of the city of Zinkiv. For personal courage and heroism shown in defending the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and for loyalty to the military oath, Serhii Oleksiiovych Mishchenko was awarded the title of "Hero of Ukraine" with the award of the "Golden Star" Order (posthumously).Burial place
