Serhii O. Osintsev (Kraken)

Senior soldier Serhiy Osintsev (call sign Kraken) was killed on September 24, 2022, in a battle with the occupiers near the village of Pisky-Rad'kivski in the Kharkiv region. The warrior was 23 years old. Serhiy was born in Ivano-Frankivsk. He lived in the Chernivtsi region, in the village of Orshivtsi. He stu at the Nepolokivtsi secondary education institution. In 2018, he graduated from the Snyatyn College of Podilsk DASTU with a degree in "Operation and Repair of Machines and Equipment for Agricultural Production." He was involved in weightlifting and had many awards and medals for winning places in competitions in kettlebell sport. On the second day of the full-scale Russian invasion, February 25, 2022, Serhiy joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He defended Ukraine as part of the 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade. He served as a machine gunner. In March, he defended Mykolaiv region, then fought in Luhansk region: Lysychansk, Bilohorivka, Verkhnokamianske. He suffered a concussion and shrapnel wounds. After recovering, he defended the village of Pisky in Donetsk region and participated in the liberation of the city of Izium in Kharkiv region. "I dream of the day when the war will end. If it depended on me, I would give my life for it. But I know it won't happen..." Serhiy said. "Serhiy's brother serves in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, his father is a participant in the Anti-Terrorist Operation, and his grandfather was also a military man. This is a family of patriots who have been defending our Ukraine from the enemy invasion since the first days. We believe that our country will be free, and all those responsible will be severely punished for the lost lives of such young children!" the Nepolokivtsi community stated. "It is unclear what tears the soul more: hatred for all those who came with war to our country, or the words 'Eternal Memory' for a child, for whom they should not have to be said... Of course, Serhiy, you will remain in our memory... You will remain in my memory as a little one who always said, 'Good day' as you passed by. And later, when you grew up, you smiled and said, 'Hello.' Always smiling, a great example for modern youth. You were a pride for your parents, Serhiy, I know that for sure... We didn't call you a hero for this reason, but life and human thoughtlessness decided everything for you… You left a good memory, child… May you have light clouds," wrote neighbor Tetiana Duman. The paratrooper was buried in the village of Nepolokivtsi in the Chernivtsi region. Serhiy is survived by his parents and brother.
