Serhii O. Turzhanskyi (Scorp)

Sergeant Serhii Turzhanskyy was killed on January 13, 2024 near the village of Veselie in the Donetsk region. During the performance of a combat mission, the warrior sustained an explosive injury incompatible with life. In December, the defender turned 39 years old. Serhii was born in the village of Bila Krynytsia, Zhytomyr region. From childhood, he was engaged in various types of martial arts, including judo. He had a large number of awards. He studied at Yuzhnoukrainska School No. 3. He obtained the qualifications of painter, installer, and electric welder at the Yuzhnoukrainsk Lyceum. He worked in the special unit "Scorpion" at the South Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plant. He was an exemplary employee, a model of courage, strength, heroism and patriotism. His portrait always hung on the honor board. When the full-scale invasion began, he volunteered to join the Separate Presidential Brigade named after Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytskyi and took the position of squad commander. During his service, Serhii received a number of awards, including the "Golden Cross", "War Veteran", "For Exemplary Service" of the II degree, and "1st Class Specialist of the Armed Forces of Ukraine". "Serhii was a very good master, in his free time he was always with his family. Non-conflicting, he always overcame all difficulties with a smile. In the company, he was constantly in the spotlight, because he knew how to live life to the fullest. Every holiday was not without music, he even bought a large speaker so that everyone around could hear. He loved life very much, he said that he would return with victory. He never even showed that it was difficult or scary for him. He was very worried about his family. Despite the fact that he himself was under constant shelling, he said that this was not important to him, the main thing is we, his family. He is still alive for us and we are waiting for him at home. Without him, life lost its colors, everything became gray. He rarely saw his son, mostly only through video communication. He probably felt that he would soon die, because he told me that he trusted the upbringing of his son to his father-in-law. For us, he is the best. I will love him through space and time," said his wife Natalia. The warrior was buried in the Salkov cemetery in the village of Protsiv, Kyiv region. Serhii left behind a wife, a son and a daughter, who were 2 and 11 years old at the time of his death, respectively.
