Biography
Sergiy Oleksandrovich Zaykovskyi was born on July 2, 1994, in the village of Drabiv in Cherkasy Oblast. From childhood, he was fascinated by history, especially Ancient Rome, and thus consciously enrolled in the History Faculty of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. Sergiy specialized in the history of the ancient world and the Middle Ages, successfully defending his thesis titled "Veterans of the Roman Army in the Province of Dacia." In 2016, he graduated from the History Faculty of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. After his studies, he moved to Kyiv, where he joined the cultural and educational project "Plomin." Sergiy's lectures attracted hundreds of grateful listeners. He also wrote articles for the media and conducted interviews with Ukrainian researchers, exploring aspects of Indo-European studies, comparative religious studies, the history of political movements of the 1920s and 1930s, and post-war right-wing movements in Europe. Sergiy was an editor and translator for books published by "Plomin" and "Nuovi Arditi," as well as a publicist and historian. He translated works such as "The Legionnaire's Canon" and "To Positive Criticism" by Dominique Venner. Posthumously, one of the last books edited by Sergiy, Sibilla Aleramo's "I Love, Therefore I Exist," was published by "Plomin." An edition by Jean Audry titled "Indo-Europeans" is also in preparation for print. In Kyiv, Sergiy Zaykovskyi joined the youth organization "Avant-garde." Due to his erudition and knowledge of traditionalism, he became an ideological mentor to his comrades, effectively becoming the second person and ideologist of the organization. In 2021, he became the chief editor of "Vistnyk" of "Avant-garde" (the name follows "Vistnyk" by Dontsov). He conceptualized key aspects of the worldview of avant-gardists: devotion to Tradition, the values of courage and heroism, glorification of war, and deep ecology. He managed to prepare materials for the first two issues, with the first being published just a week before the start of the full-scale war. In 2021, Sergiy participated in combat operations in Donbas, near the city of Avdiivka, serving as a machine gunner in the volunteer unit "FreiKor." On the day of the full-scale invasion by Russian troops, February 24, 2022, Sergiy, along with his comrades from "Avant-garde," joined the territorial defense and defended Kyiv from the advancing enemy army. He was killed on March 24, 2022, during a counteroffensive by the Ukrainian army near the village of Lukyanivka in Kyiv Oblast. He was the second in command of an anti-tank unit within the anti-tank platoon of the 1st battalion of the "SSO Azov" regiment. Sergiy, along with a comrade on the right flank of the attack in the village of Lukyanivka, engaged in a battle with a tank: a tank duel occurred between a Ukrainian tank and several Russian ones. During the battle, a shot from a tank hit nearby, and both soldiers were killed on the spot.Military service
