- Born on December 11, 1973, in the city of Ivano-Frankivsk. In 1989, he graduated from the 8th grade of secondary school No. 12 in the city of Pryluky, Chernihiv region, and in 1993 - from Pryluky Medical College. Since 1993, he has been in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In 1998, he graduated from Kharkiv Military University with a degree in "Metrological support of systems and complexes." From June 1998 to December 30, 2013, he served in various officer positions in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Since December 30, 2013, he has been the deputy commander of the 3rd tank battalion for personnel work of the 1st separate guards tank brigade of Novgorod, awarded the Orders of the Red Banner, Kutuzov, Bohdan Khmelnytsky, Alexander Nevsky, and the Red Star of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A1815, the urban-type settlement of Honcharivske, Chernihiv district, Chernihiv region). Since June 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On July 30, 2014, near the village of Shyshkove in the Slovianoserbsk district of Luhansk region, while carrying out a mission to deliver ammunition and food to a checkpoint, the GAZ-66 truck, in which Major Derkach was located, was blown up by a landmine. The explosion detonated the ammunition being transported in the vehicle. As a result of the explosion, Major Derkach and Sergeant Moiseenko were killed. On August 1, 2014, he was buried in the cemetery of the city of Pryluky. In the city of Pryluky, on August 24, 2014, a memorial plaque was opened in his honor on the facade of secondary school No. 12 (Military Town Street, 12), and on October 26, 2016, another plaque was opened on the facade of Pryluky Medical College (Kyivska Street, 243), where Serhiy Derkach studied. On May 11, 2016, by the order of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Major Derkach Serhiy Pavlovych was posthumously awarded the next military rank - Lieutenant Colonel.Book of Remembrance for Ukraine - Ukrainian memorial
