Serhii P. Slavinskyi

53-year-old soldier Serhii Slavinskyi was killed on January 22, 2024, in the Kupiansk direction of the Kharkiv region. When he was returning from a combat mission, together with his comrades-in-arms, he came under artillery fire. Due to heavy shelling and the risk of drone attacks, the soldier's body could not be evacuated for three days. Serhii was born in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region. In his teenage years, he was involved in boxing and had successes. Thanks to his athletic build and strong character, he served as a paratrooper-scout in the army. After demobilization, he enrolled at the Kryvyi Rih Economic Institute of Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman, which he successfully graduated from. For many years, he worked as an economist in a private company, but it ceased to exist. At the end of 2014, the man was employed by Nova Poshta. Serhii was a very calm person, focused primarily on his family. His first marriage did not work out. He met his second wife, Marina, in 2002 when she worked in trade, and he was an interesting customer. However, their relationship developed only four years later, as Marina had gone abroad to work. After her return, fate brought them together again, and this time they seized their chance. They started living together almost immediately, and Serhii and Marina officially became a married couple 8 years later. In late March 2023, the man was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He underwent training in Ukraine and Poland. In early summer, he was sent to the Kupiansk direction. Serhii fought in the ranks of the 43rd separate artillery brigade named after Hetman Taras Trasylo. He was buried in his hometown. Serhii was posthumously awarded the "For Merit to the City" badge. A memorial plaque was installed on the facade of Kryvyi Rih Gymnasium No. 8, which he had graduated from.
