- Soldier Serhii Danylchuk was killed on February 17, 2024, at a position in the area of the village of Synkivka in the Kharkiv region. He came under enemy mortar fire and received fatal injuries. On March 31, the defender would have turned 33 years old. Serhii was born and raised in the village of Khvoshchivka, Khmilnytskyi region. He was the youngest of three brothers. After finishing school, he obtained the profession of an automotive electrician in a vocational school, and later the profession of a mechanic at the Rivne Technical School. He was interested in football, cars, and politics. He was passionate about the history of Ukraine. He read books and searched for relevant information on the internet. He did not get into the army, having a "white ticket": he had poor eyesight and a severe stutter. So after his studies, his older brothers took him to Khmilnytskyi, where they lived and worked at the time. At first, the guy tried himself at a local factory, and in April 2017, he got a job at "Nova Poshta," where he worked for over 6 years. "I offered him to come work with me more than once, but he refused. Although he had a tough schedule - he worked at night and slept during the day. But he said he liked his job and the company was good, the management was good, so he didn't want to change anything... Serhii was a sociable person, had many friends, but his personal life didn't work out. We had warm relations with our families, he loved and spoiled his nephews, and we all went to the village to our parents, fishing together," said the brother of the deceased, Ivan Danylchuk. At the beginning of the full-scale war, Serhii went to the military enlistment office as a volunteer, but they did not take him due to his health condition. However, in August 2023, he was still mobilized. He ended up in the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade. He held the position of a rifleman. He defended the Bakhmut and Kupiansk directions. He wanted to buy a small house with a garden in his native village with his "combat" earnings. On February 1, 2024, he received the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine's "Golden Cross" award for saving his comrades. Serhii's group was carrying out a task and got into a minefield. One guy had his foot blown off, two more were seriously injured, and Serhii himself was concussed and cut by shrapnel. But he crawled across the mined field and pulled the wounded one out. That guy survived. After the concussion, Serhii's eyesight became very poor, and the commanders wanted to transfer him to other tasks or to the rear unit. They were waiting for the MRI results, and in the meantime, they decided to send him to the positions one more time. And that became his last outing. Serhii was buried in his native village. He left behind a large loving family.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
