Serhii V. Hardymanenko (Chapai)

Sergeant Serhii Hardymanenko (call sign Chapai) was killed on October 13, 2023 near the village of Andriivka in the Donetsk region. The defender was 35 years old. Serhii was born in the village of Kachkarivka, Kherson region. After finishing school, he obtained the profession of an electric welder. He worked in construction and traveled abroad for work. Before the full-scale invasion, he worked at a machine-building plant in Berislav, Kherson region, where he lived with his family. In his free time, he loved to go fishing. On February 24, 2022, when the great war began, Berislav was occupied by Russian troops. Serhii remained in the city until its liberation by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in November 2022. After that, he said: "I can't do this anymore." On May 26, 2023, he voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He defended his Homeland as part of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade "Kholodnyi Yar". "He had golden hands, whatever you asked him to do, he would do it. He loved fishing very much. As soon as he had a free minute, he was on the Dnipro River. He knew how to catch and prepare fish. He never feared work. Everything was on fire in his hands. As far as I'm concerned, he was the best. Very calm. Always smiling. Non-conflictual. He was my hope and support. He was my sun," said his mother Tetiana Ivanivna. The soldier's body was cremated. The defender is survived by his parents, sister, wife, and a son who was 5 years old at the time of his father's death.
