From October 1 to November 20, 2014, and from January 4, 2015, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. Call sign "Dentist". He provided medical assistance to wounded soldiers during the battles for the International Airport "Donetsk", for the city of Debaltseve in Donetsk region, and at the 29th and 31st checkpoints. On February 9, 2015, the medical brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, consisting of a medical armored vehicle and a medical car, left the city of Artemivsk (now Bakhmut) in Donetsk region towards the city of Debaltseve, to meet with a medical crew of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Anatoliy Sulima, Mykhailo Baliuk, and paramedic of the National Guard of Ukraine Serhiy Katsabin), with whom communication was lost.
